William “Tom” Adams, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital on January 4, 2025, at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his passing.
Born on February 20, 1947, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Tom was the son of Colman Adams and Willie Thompson. He grew up in Kings Mountain, where he was one of seven siblings, including Bobby, Colman, Charles, James, George, Mary, and Mamie. Tom carried with him the values and the strong family bonds that defined his upbringing, and he was a cherished member of the Adams family.
Tom was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Betty Adams, with whom he shared 56 years of love and memories. Together, they raised two sons, William Adams Jr. of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Thyhason Adams of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tom’s love for his family was unmatched, and he took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather.
A man of many passions, Tom was an avid golfer, fisherman, tennis player, and bowler. He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, whether it was hitting the links, casting a line, or competing in friendly games. His competitive spirit, combined with his generous heart, made him a respected figure among his friends, coworkers, and peers.
Professionally, Tom worked for the Bridgeport Housing Authority, where he dedicated many years of his life to serving the community. His work ethic and integrity made a lasting impact on those who knew him, and he was respected for his reliability and dedication.
Tom is survived by his wife, Betty Adams; of Bridgeport, Connecticut; his sons, William Adams Jr. of Greenwich, Connecticut; Thyhason Adams (Laura) of Bridgeport, Connecticut; his brother, George Adams (Aundra) of Gastonia, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
Among those mourning his loss are his closest friends, Ray McSwain and Felix Brown.
He was predeceased by his parents and six of his siblings.
Tom's warmth, sense of humor, and deep love for his family and friends will be dearly missed.
