Tonia Maria Perry

Our dear sweet Tonia (Toni) Maria Perry took her eternal rest on Friday, December 4, 2020. Toni was born on July 6, 1957 in Bridgeport, CT. She was the daughter of Philip (Pippi) Penn and Marie Bacon. Toni grew up in Milford, CT but lived most of her life in Bridgeport, CT. She received her education in both the Milford and Bridgeport school systems. She later attended Housatonic Community College, Sacred Heart, and the University of Bridgeport for General Studies. Whatever opportunity she was given, Toni jumped on it and excelled. Her spiritual education started at Holy Tabernacle under Elder Bascome and later Bishop Ivory W. Holden. Toni loved singing, ushering and Lord knows - giving God some praise. She would dance the whole service through if she could. Later, she joined Rainbow Temple Church, Shekinah Glory and was presently a member at Kingdom Life under Prophet Cook. Toni's true passion came when she sought the Lord for her purpose. She took on learning the Word of God like it was her only desire. She became Prophetess Tonia and every day she would make a joyful noise just knowing she was doing what she always wanted to do - serve the Lord. She was employed as dispatcher at WE Transport, Inc. (formerly Laidlaw & First Student) where she worked many years. Toni touched many lives. She was loved and respected by her peers and coworkers. They loved spending time with her. Toni loved listening and definitely loved talking. Toni loved to travel, going to plays, eating very expensive meals, laughing (out loud) and just having family fun. She, like her mother Marie Bacon was always the life of the party. She also adored being a grandmother - talked about her grands constantly and always had a picture ready to share. She leaves sweet precious memories for her children, Dwayne Penn (Carrie), Jaime Thigpen-Bates (Kelvin), Corey Penn, Kelvin Perry, and Christopher Perry. Her grandchildren Charles, Teyoni, Kyree, Dawion, Tavon, Khalid, Kelvin III, Kalmia, Sany'ra, Jeremiah, Alexis, Mariah, Tyler, Sumer and her great- grand Kairo. Her custodian mother Lillian E. Gray and her siblings, Sheila Bacon, Vincent Bacon, Alvin Bacon, Bernard Bacon (Kristine), Andrea Baker, Darlene Fraser (Edward), Dathan Gray (Monique), Damita Davis (Roderick), Dara Gray, Darvis Gray (Keyandra) and Roevanzeese Williams. Her Uncle Cecil Hampton and Aunt Ogreta Hampton. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her aunt Joan Penn, grandmother "Duddy", grandparents O.C. and Fannie Hampton, great-grandparents Christopher and Maggie Hill, custodial grandfather Council H.S. Gray, grandmother Mattie Hill and her great-grand A'Zarriyah. She has a "huge" host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous friends that were all very dear to her.
