Tiburcio 'Tibo' Ortiz

Tiburcio "Tibo" Ortiz, age 89 of Stratford, husband of Rosa Maria (Berrios) Ortiz, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Tibo was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Tiburcio was born August 11, 1929 in Buena Vista, Bayamn, Puerto Rico, the beloved son of the late Julio Ortiz & Emlia (Ortega) Ortiz. Tibo migrated from Puerto Rico to Brooklyn then to Connecticut where he met and married Rosa Maria Berrios in 1956. Together they invested in properties and opened their doors to family and friends coming to Connecticut looking for a better life. He was a skilled handyman and in his pastime he enjoyed his garden. Tibo retired from Handy & Hardmen and stayed active throughout his retirement. Tibo was a firm believer in Christ and served as a Deacon for many years at Church of Christ. He will be remembered most for his words of wisdom, scripture readings, kindness and generosity towards others. Besides his parents, Tibo was predeceased by 6 siblings; Inez Ortiz, Felix Ortiz, Justina Cuarta, Juana Rodriguez, Fabiana Balducci, Manuela Ortiz Pizarro In addition to his wife of 61 years, Rosa, Tibo is survived by: son, Jesus Ortiz; daughter, Helen (Jessie)Pizarro; daughter, Brenda Ortiz(Davilson DoCarmo); 8 siblings, Felicita Rivera, Inocencia Vazquez, Matilde Ortiz, Matilde, Florentina Ortiz, Aida Ortiz, Santa Ortiz, Antonio Ortiz; 5 grandchildren; Aida Luz Ramos, Jesse Noel Ortiz, Jayden Tibo Ortiz, Luna Rose DoCarmo, Cristian Jesus Ortiz; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 9am-11am at Church of Christ, 240 Hamilton St., Bridgeport, CT. 06608. A Service Honoring Tibo's Life will follow from 11am-1pm. Entombment will proceed at Mt. Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Ave. Bridgeport, CT. 06604.
