Sally T Washington

Sally T. Washington, age 86, of Bridgeport, widow of George Carver Washington, Sr. entered into eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Sally was born December 31, 1930 in Hanceville, Alabama, the beloved daughter of the late Midas and Essie (Wilson) Twitty. Sally moved with her family to Norwalk, CT. in 1962 and later relocated to Bridgeport where she remained for over 20 years. Sally loved helping and caring for others. She retired from Norwalk Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse after 25 years of service. Sally was the matriarch of her family. Her strength and guidance kept everyone grounded. Sally loved to cook, read, travel, and spend time with her pets, Benji & Magic. She was a member of Mount Aery Baptist Church in Bridgeport. In addition to her parents and husband, Sally was predeceased by her son, George C. Washington, Jr.; her siblings, Henrietta Mumford, Louise Parker, Laura Colvin, Vila Twitty and her granddaughter, Alecia Washington. Sally is survived by: three children; son, Carl Washington of Bridgeport; daughter, Anna Washington of Bridgeport; son, James Washington (Shauna) of Manchester; four siblings; brother, James Twitty (Carol) ; sister, Jeanetta Leeth; sister, Margaret Dimbo; sister, Cutie Mae Jordan; five grandchildren; Latoya Robinson, James Moss, Levorn Waire, George A. Washington, Tanysha Washington; four great-grandchildren; Nisaiah Washington, Janiya Moss, McKenzie Evans, George A. Washington, Jr. ; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory. A memorial service in Sally's honor will be held Sunday, December 31, 2017 from 12pm-2pm at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT. Tel: 203-334-9999.
