Richard “Richalito" Gorritz Nieves, 61, passed away on April 12, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born on October 31, 1962, in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Tomas Gorritz and Guillermina Nieves. Richard grew up with five siblings. At the age of 32 Richard moved to Connecticut, although he was away from his hometown he maintained his positive sense of humor, loved his Latin culture with food and salsa music. Richard worked in a convenience store and was known for his generous heart, always lending a helping hand to those in need. He found joy in playing pool, attending car races with his brother-in-law Johnny Nieves.
He is survived by his siblings Elizabeth and brother-in-law Santurnino Ortiz, Carmen and brother-in-law Juan Nieves, Wanda and brother-in-law Carlos Nieves, and Virgilio and sister-in-law Maria Davila. He is also survived by his son Ricky Gorritz Davila.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Carlos Thomas Gorritz.
Friends may pay their respects on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 7:00PM to 9:00 PM at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604. Interment will be held privately.
