Queen Elizabeth Mims, age 79, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, the widow of Arthur Mims, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at the Hebrew Center of Hartford. She was born on January 15, 1945, in Lake City, South Carolina, to the late Jim Jones and Grace Singletary.

Queen Elizabeth was a devoted spouse to her beloved husband, Arthur Mims. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Raised in the heart of South Carolina, Queen Elizabeth was instilled with values of diligence, confidence, and positivity from an early age. She was a beacon of light in her community, known for her cheerful disposition, encouraging words, and unwavering optimism.

Throughout her distinguished career, Queen Elizabeth served with dedication and distinction. She was decorated for her contributions and commitment to excellence while working at Sikorsky Aircraft. Additionally, she passionately served as a teacher within her community, nurturing the minds and hearts of countless students. For an impressive 37 years, Queen Elizabeth served as the Executive Director for Re-Entry Ministries, where she tirelessly worked to empower individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

Queen Elizabeth's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her bonus children, Bridgette Kelly, Norman Holbrook, and Terri Singletary. Also survived by her 3 siblings, Sylvester Gathers, Hayward Singletary, and Geneva Stancil. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support enriched their lives and the lives of all who knew her.

Queen Elizabeth's legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her light will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.

Besides her parents Queen is predeceased by her husband Arthur Mims, and her three siblings, Laverne Singletary, Joseph Singletary, and Nellie Singletary.

Friends and loved ones are invited to greet the family Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 9:00am to 10:00am. A Home Going Celebration officiated by Pastor Ladelia Richardson will proceed from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Holy Ghost Deliverance Cathedral 705-707 Arctic Street Bridgeport CT 06608.
