Moureen 'Mur' Mcquennie

Moureen McQuennie, age 67 of Bridgeport, loving wife of Alban McQuennie, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital. Moureen was born January 12, 1950 in Portland, Jamaica, the beloved daughter of the late Leroy & Maria (Brown) Rankine. She grew up in Jamaica but relocated with her husband to Newark, NJ in 2008, and then to Bridgeport, CT in 2009. In the US, Moureen worked for many years as a certified home health aide. She was a pleasant and caring woman who had a quick smile and kind words for everyone. Moureen was hardworking, dedicated and fiercely loyal. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She was devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren. Moureen will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. In addition to her husband of 28 years, Moureen is survived by: four children Dwayne Campbell of New Jersey; Colmain ‘Al' Smith of New York; Bridgette Smith-Reddick (son-in- law Harold) of Bridgeport; Antoinette Smith-Campbell (son-in- law Gary) of Jamaica; six stepchildren; Veronica, Samuel, Steadly, Cecile, Rosemarie and Alban Jr.; seven siblings; Glenna Rowe and spouse Cecil, Joyphill Luton and spouse Leonard, Earl Rankine, Fitzroy Rankine and spouse Donna, Charmaine Kettle and spouse Neville, Dwight Rankine, Christopher Rankine and spouse Maxine; four grandchildren; Mekonah Campbell, Shionah Campbell, Alexsis Smith, Allister Smith; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish the time they spent with her. Friends may greet the family at the viewing on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., which will be followed by a home-going service from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., both at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT; tel: 203-334- 9999.
