Migdalia Vazquez-Gerena age 55 of Derby, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Migdalia was born February 24, 1964 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; the beloved daughter of the late Lourdes Gerena-Nieves. Migdalia was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She loved all children and worked for many years as a child care provider. Migdalia cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outdoors; fishing, planting flowers, having cookouts, and going to the beach in the summer. Migdalia was known as being incredibly kind and generous. She was always there for anyone who needed words of advice, a helping hand, or a home cooked meal. Migdalia knew just how to make others smile and laugh when they needed it most, especially with her bold facial expressions. She was a fighter, the matriarch of her family, and a strong-willed, feisty little lady who will be missed deeply by everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Migdalia is survived by her: husband, Raul Vazquez; son, Manuel Vazquez Sr.; daughter, Solimar Coln; son, Victor Coln Sr.; daughter, Magdaliz Coln & son-in-law Viviano Escalera; daughter, Elizabeth, Diana; daughter, Maria Vazquez; twenty grandchildren, Mara Rodriguez, Juan Rivera, Melanie Rodriguez, Moises Marcano, Siara Marcano, Alex Cabrara, Yomaira Coln, Victor Coln Jr., Elena Coln, Joseph Coln, Jose Coln, Manuel Vazquez Jr., Gabriel Rodriguez, Jazmine Moales, Michelle Moales, Lisa Cruz, Keven Flores, Lynette, Yayline, Kayline; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
