Migdalia Leon

August 25, 1954 — March 10, 2025

Migdalia "Llique" Leon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2025, in Fairfield, CT, at the age of 70. She was a bright light to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.

Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, to Audino Villafane and Monserrate Reyes, Migdalia was one of 28 siblings including her brothers; Ramon, Salvador, Santos, Lauro, William, Mariano, Erasto and Anderson and Sisters; Nereida, Lillian, Juana, and Monserrate. Migdalia was raised in Utuado and moved to Wilmington, Delaware, at the age of 17. At 32, she relocated to Bridgeport, CT, where she made a life and built a family. Migdalia's love for her family was unmatched, particularly the deep bond she shared with her husband, Martin Leon. The two were inseparable, and it was clear to anyone who knew them that they were the perfect match. Migdalia devoted herself to her daughters, Idalia and Midalina Villafane, with a fierce dedication to their well-being and success.

Known for her beauty, health, and boundless energy, Migdalia was affectionately called "Barbie" by those who loved her. Whether at the gym or shopping, she had an enthusiasm for life that was contagious. Migdalia was deeply passionate about maintaining her health and fitness. She found immense joy in working out, running, and hitting the gym. Her infatuation with working out kept her strong, vibrant, and was a testament to the discipline she lived her life with.

Migdalia was meticulous about her home, always keeping it clean and organized, and never left the house unless her chores were done. She also loved dancing, especially to Mambo and Cumbia music, bringing joy and rhythm to every family gathering.

Migdalia was the glue that held her family together. As the matriarch, she was the first to step in when there was a problem, always resolving issues with wisdom, grace, and strength. She played many roles in the lives of her loved ones: from an accountant to a mechanic, from a counselor to a life planner, her guidance was unwavering. Idalia was her trusted confidante, helping her with decisions, while Midalina was her twin in every sense of the word.

When Migdalia became a grandmother, she found a new purpose in life. Her first grandchild, Ace, changed everything for her, and she dedicated herself to ensuring a better future for her family. As more grandchildren arrived, each one held a special place in her heart. Jazzy, her keeper of secrets, was her constant companion through the ups and downs of life. Dolly and Cito were always on her mind—she worried for them, waiting for Dolly's call every day and never going to sleep until she heard from Cito each night.

With the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Migdalia’s heart expanded even further. Giovanni J. "Gio," her first great-grandchild, became the center of her world, and no one dared to reprimand him in her presence. Amir, her dancing twin with a bubbly personality, and Israel, her well-behaved "white boy," also held special places in her heart.

Migdalia’s caring nature extended beyond her family. For over 20 years, she worked for WE Transport, where she monitored and safely transported countless children to and from school each day. She treated them with the same patience and care she showed her own family, always going above and beyond to ensure their safety and well-being.

Migdalia is predeceased by her parents, Audino Villafane and Monserrate Reyes, as well as her brothers, Erasto, Anderson, Jose Luis, and her sister, Olga Villafane.

She is survived by her loving husband, Martin Leon; her devoted daughters, Idalia and Midalina Villafane; her grandchildren, Azael Echaverri and wife Kelly, Migdalia Nilda Echeverri, Hernan and Jasmin Colon; her great-grandchildren, Giovanni J. Echeverri, Amir R. Rojas, and Israel G. Colon; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Migdalia’s strength, love, and unwavering dedication to her family will never be forgotten. May her memory live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
