Melva Paz Rivera, age 61 of Bridgeport, beloved mother and sister, died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Saint Vincent's Hospital after a 40 year battle with Lupus. Born on May 1, 1954 in Puerto Padre, Cuba, Mrs. Rivera was retired from Remington Shavers. She loved playing cards, bingo and going to the casinos, but especially spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Rivera was predeceased by her husband, Juan Antonio Rivera and beloved parents, Luis and Estela Paz. Melva is survived by: son, Eric Antonio Paz Rivera; two sisters, Amarilis "Millie" & brother-in-law John Pitzschler, Mayra Paz Batista & brother-in-law Santo Toranzo Batista of Cuba; two brothers, Luis Paz Jr., Jose "Tony" Paz & sister-in-law Julia Paz; seven nephews, John and his wife Andrea Pitzschler, Brian Pitzschler, Matthew Paz, Mitchell Paz, Gilbert Paz & his family, and Michael Paz & his family; Luis Miguel Paz, two nieces, Natalie Paz, Elizabeth Paz & her family; and host of extended family and friends that will cherish her memories.
