Mary Ellen Melvin

Mary Ellen Melvin, age 75 of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mary Ellen was born on November 25th, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland the beloved daughter of Milton R. Butler Sr. and Imogene Rice Butler. Mary Ellen made Bridgeport her home over forty years ago, raising her family and making an impact in her community through her kind and loving nature. A strong energetic woman, who always had a kind word and a pleasant smile for everyone, especially the many children she cared for, Mary Ellen will be remembered for her love of family, friends, cooking, flowers, particularly poinsettias, and church, where her presence will be sorely missed. Mary Ellen reunites with her parents, Milton and Imogene, and her adored son Douglas Melvin Jr. in eternal peace. She is survived by her loving daughters, Sandra and Dawna Melvin, and her son Richard Melvin all of Bridgeport. Mary Ellen also leaves behind ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends in whose memory she shall live on.
