Mary Frances Hooks

Mary Frances Hooks, age 79, of Bridgeport, entered eternal peace at Bridgeport Hospital on Tuesday, January 1st, 2013. She was born on December 3, 1933 in Collirene Alabama. A woman who was addressed by many beautiful names, Mary "Ma", "Muhdear" "Lovie", "Grandma", Francis was the daughter of the late Ernest Woodruff Sr., and Mattie Woodruff and was predeceased by her longtime companion Mr. Abraham Sparks and her daughter Mrs. Wilhelmina Flowers. She was the eldest of four children. She attended Rosenwald High School in Panama City, Florida. Mrs. Hooks loved her family and friends. She loved to bake, cook and play spades. She extended herself as a mother to continue to raise several grandchildren, nieces and a nephew. She was an active member of the Mother of the Church New Deliverance and worship Center. She also became a caretaker as well as a mother to her predeceased daughter, Wilhelmina and also her predeceased long time companion, Mr. Abraham Sparks. She was employed at Longfellow school as a cafeteria aide in the early 80's. She will be truly missed by everyone. Mrs. Hooks leaves behind to cherish her memories nine children, Nememiah (Rosemary) Wilson North Carolina, Marvin of Hartford, CT, Commander Brown, Shawnique of Bridgeport, Donald (Peggy) Columbus, Georgia, Frank of Bridgeport, Jessie (Evelyn) of Bridgeport, William of Bridgeport, Mary (Michael) Bridgeport, Fatima of Bridgeport. Mary is also survived by a host of many, grandchildren and plenty of great grandchildren. One sister Gracie Odom of Panama City, Florida, one brother Ernest Woodruff Sr. of Tampa, Florida, one predeceased brother Carl Woodruff, Panama City, Florida, one uncle Felix Tyre of Lynnehaven, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and a very special friend Mrs. Daisy Young Friends may greet the family Tuesday, January 8th, 2013 from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
