Martina Hernandez Arce

Martina Hernandez Arce, age 76 of Bridgeport, entered into heavenly rest Saturday, December 19th 2015 at her home with her loving family by her side. Martina resided in Bridgeport for forty-two years and was married for twenty-three years to former spouse Esteban Valentin, which was the father of their three children. Martina spoke her mind, strong, tenacious yet a loving and strict mother. Her favorite pastime was cooking for family gatherings, bingo, and dominos. Her presence radiated and has left an everlasting memory. Martina was born January, 30, 1939 in Aguada, Puerto Rico, the beloved daughter of the late Jose Hernandez & Oliva Arce. Besides her parents Martina is predeceased by five siblings: Victor Hernandez , Heriberto Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez, Severiana Otero, and Dionisa Jaime. Martina is survived by: daughter, Nyvia & son-in-law Benjed Labrador of Bridgeport; two sons, Edgar & daughter-in-law Yvette Valentin of Trumbull, Gilberto & daughter-in-law Nilsa Valentin of Bridgeport; three stepsons she helped raised, Michael DeJesus, Jose DeJesus, Juan Carlos DeJesus; five siblings, Ana Valiz, Elena Torres, Felix Hernandez, Osvaldo Muiz, Ismael Hernandez; six grandchildren, Ashley Valentin, Gilberto Valentin Jr., James Hernandez, Christina Hernandez, Nyvia Moreno, Jaime Lebron; seven great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
