Mario Marcano, affectionately known as "El Indio," passed away peacefully in Milford, Connecticut. He was born on December 25, 1942, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and was 81 years old at the time of his passing. Raised in Puerto Rico, Mario relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1986 to build a better future for his family—a responsibility he embraced wholeheartedly.
Mario was a devoted husband to Blanca R. Lopez and a loving father to four children: Luis M. Marcano, Luis E. Marcano(Carmen), Rolando Marcano(Carmen), and Janyra Marcano. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in everything he did for them.
He worked as a taper at DWCC for 30 years, a career he took great pride in. Outside of work, Mario had a zest for life and was known for his competitive spirit and good-natured personality. He loved playing dominoes, fishing, and in his younger years, enjoyed playing softball. Mario was also an avid and faithful fan of the New York Mets, never missing an opportunity to cheer for his team. He loved sharing stories from his past, always bringing a smile to those around him.
Mario is predeceased by his parents, Miguelina Ortiz and Mario Marcano, and six of his siblings.
He is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, three daughters- in- law, his 8 siblings from Rio Piedras, PR, and a large extended family who will miss him dearly and will remember him fondly for his warmth, humor, and generous heart.
Mario’s light, laughter, and love for life will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
