Maria Filomena Zhicay

Maria Filomena Zhicay, age 86 of Monroe, Connecticut, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family by her side. Maria was born December 30, 1931 in Gualaceo, Ecuador. The beloved daughter of the late Mr. Zhicay & Mercedes Pozo. Maria was a hardworking woman. She owned her own bakery restaurant for many years. A devote Catholic, Maria was sure to never miss her Sunday services. She will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of knowing her. Maria is survived by: two daughters, Maria Francisca Zhicay, Sandra Catalyna Zhicay of Long Island, NY; three brothers, Roberto Zhicay, Mario Zhicay, Juan Zhicay; two sisters; Rosa Zhicay, Julia Idrono; five grandchildren, Leonardo Gomezcoello, Veronica Gomezcoello, Diana Gomezcoello, Anthony Alvarado, Alexis Alvarado; 7 great-grandchildren, Sebastian Arias, Belen Garcia, Juliette Arias, Josue Garcia, Nicolas Garcia, Emely Arias, Isaac Julian Arias; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
