Maria Isabel 'Chavelo' Ayala

Maria Isabel Ayala "Chavelo", age 72 of Bridgeport, entered into eternal peace Sunday, July 7th, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital. Maria was born Wednesday, June 18th, 1941 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to loving parents, Adela and Clotilde Lopez. Maria moved to Bridgeport in 1960 and for many years was a factory worker at VCA. Kind, caring and generous, Maria was a devout Christian woman who loved life, family and God. She enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking, her specialty was rice and pigeon peas and she always seemed to make enough to feed an army even when she was only cooking for a few. A loving and devoted matriarch, over the years Maria delighted in babysitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her loving embrace and gentle smile will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. In death Maria reunites with her deceased husband, Benigno Ayala, and her beloved parents, Adela and Clotilde as well as her previously deceased siblings. Maria is survived by her devoted children; Judith Negron, Myrtha Martinez, Wanda (Leoncio) Rivera, Victor M. (Nereida) Negron Jr., Ida Lopez and Rosemary Negron all of Connecticut. Maria also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren in whose laughter and smiles Maria will always live on. Additionally Maria's memory will always be cherished by a host of extended family and friends whose lives she touched and enriched in so many ways.
