Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria Figueroa, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 in her home. She was born on February 22, 1943 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She was 82.
Maria, Abuela, Mama, Tia or Titi Figgy as she was known and loved by so many, was the heart of our home and family. She raised 3 daughters, Maria (Ivy), Brenda (Starr), and Julie as well as her grandsons Lindsey, Jonathan (per-deceseased) and great-grandson, Lindsey in a happy and loving home. Maria was also like a mother to Chary. She was married for over 55 years to her soulmate, Julio, who predeceased her in death. As a grandmother to her 7 grandchildren, as well as, so many other children that she cared for, baby-sat, or just came in from the neighborhood, she was the “fun abuela or mama” always making them laugh and making sure they were well fed. Food was her love language. She was known for her delicious cooking, especially her ”pelota de arroz y habichuelas., “ and yes, she did make the best beans ever.
Besides her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, 5 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, and so many friends who loved her as family. She will be truly missed.
