Maria “Dorey” Dorbat, age 71 of Bridgeport Connecticut went on to be with the Lord on August 30, 2024. Maria was born on June 14, 1953 in Cidra, Puerto Rico to the late Primitiva Dorbat (Reyes) and Antonio Dorbat.

Maria had 2 children of her own. Her oldest son, Isaias Flores and youngest Noel Flores, will miss her dearly. They fondly remember her as not just their loving mother but a hard-working, strong-willed woman who faced life’s challenges head on. Maria was an excellent cook, who enjoyed cooking for her family. From an early age she would help her mother Primitiva to make Puerto Rican pasteles; a tradition she kept for many years.
Maria received Christian Baptism in the waters at the age of 59. She was baptized by Pastor Pedro Vasquez of Gospel Light Community Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Maria loved to worship and sing to the Lord. Some of her favorite songs were; “Cuando Levanto Mis Manos”, “Tu Fidelidad” and “Estamos de Fiesta con Jesús”. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 28 6 -8: “Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.”
Maria was a very happy person, with a smile that was infectious. Maria was well known for that smile and the meticulous way she carried herself. She was very proud of her appearance, keeping her nails well- manicured, her hair and make-up always done. People knew her not only by her favorite pink lipstick and nails, but by the love she shared with those around her.
