Luz was born on March 18th 1929 the day after St. Patrick's Day in Vieques, Puerto Rico. She was the beloved daughter of Anastacio Acosta and Lucia Arizmendi. At a young age of three Luz's mother passed away and she was raised with her father until the age of eleven, when he also passed on. Luz then migrated to Brooklyn NY. She lived in Brooklyn NY, Corpus Christi, TX & met Richard Novak (of Wisconsin) when she moved back to Brooklyn NY. He served on the USS Saipan & the USS Intrepid. At twenty-nine Luz married Richard Novak. She was a supportive military wife and a mother of three. They moved to Two Rivers, WI. Then they moved from Two Rivers WI to Brooklyn NY. In 1965 the Novak family moved to Bridgeport, CT. Luz and Richard were together for forty-six years until the Lord called him home. Luz learned how to crochet and embroider and often made her own clothing. She was feisty, stubborn, impatient and commanding. But most of all a loving woman who was determined to help anyone in need and was a beautiful person. She had a lot of spunk and was sassy, love to joke around and laugh about the stuff she did when she was young. Luz is now reunited in heaven by her spouse, parents, brother, and five sisters.
