Luz Maria Hernandez, 93, of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford, CT.

Born on April 6, 1933, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Luz was the daughter of Evarista Rosa and Santos Sosa. She was raised in Puerto Rico until the age of 30, when she moved to Connecticut, making her home in Bridgeport and later Stratford.

Luz was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord, her church, and worship music. Her faith was an important part of her life and the way she cared for those around her. She was also devoted to her family and treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Luz was married to her beloved husband, Martin Hernandez, for 60 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and love.

She had a generous and giving heart. To know Luz was to know that she would rarely let you leave her home without giving you something. She loved to cook, care for others, and make the people around her feel welcomed and loved. Her kindness, generosity, and warmth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Luz was a loving mother to Aida Marcano and Occar Marcano. She was a cherished grandmother to Aida Davis and Jason Torres, and a proud great-grandmother to Justin Robles, Brandon Robles, and Viviana Torres.

She is survived by her siblings, Jose Alfonso Rosa, Carmen Gloria Rosa, and Luis M. Rosa. She was preceded in death by her sibling, Juan Rosa.

Luz retired from Bridgeport Metal Goods, where she worked as a machine operator.

Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, generosity, and love. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
