Luis Miguel Figueroa

Luis Miguel Figueroa Sr., affectionately known as “Cuchy,” age 75, of Derby, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2026.

Born on January 12, 1951, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Luis was the beloved son of Miguel Figueroa and María Eugenia Acevedo. He was raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where he spent his early years before eventually relocating to the United States to build a life for himself and his family.

Luis was a quiet yet direct man, known for his sharp sense of humor, strong values, and dependable nature. He was strict when needed, but always reliable- a steady presence his family could count on. He took pride in his work and dedicated many years as a machine operator. In addition, he was a licensed mechanic and a skilled tractor-truck driver, demonstrating his strong work ethic and versatility. Outside of work, Luis found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing, working on cars, and spending time playing dominoes- moments that brought him closer to family and friends. Among his greatest accomplishments were the generations he helped create, taking immense pride in meeting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Luis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen Awilda Rodríguez; his parents; and all of his siblings, Carmen Figueroa, Monserrate Figueroa, Andrea Figueroa, and Mikey Acevedo. He is survived by his loving children: Cynthia Ruiz, Marie Figueroa, Lucy Figueroa, Christine Figueroa-Tosado, Luis M. Figueroa Jr., and Luis Daniel Figueroa. He also leaves behind 26 cherished grandchildren and 24 treasured great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and loved ones who will deeply miss him.

A visitation will be held on April 2, 2026, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Community Funeral Chapels located at 798 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.Luis will be remembered for his strength, his quiet wisdom, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind through his family. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
