Lawrence B 'Short Man' Johnson Jr.

Lawrence B. Johnson Jr., age 72 of Bridgeport, loving husband of Wanda Johnson, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Lawrence was born September 3, 1947 in Hampton, South Carolina; the beloved son of the late Lawrence Johnson Sr. & Gladys (Davis) Johnson. Lawrence, better known by all as "Short Man" was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Short Man provided for his family; giving them everything he could. He had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. Short Man took pride in his appearance and was a sharp dresser. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards, fishing, and fixing cars. Short Man will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him. Along with his parents, Lawrence Sr. & Gladys; Short Man was predeceased by two brothers, Isaac Johnson Sr. and James Johnson. In addition to Wanda, his wife, Short Man is survived by his: daughter, Rachel Barnes of Stamford; son, Johnny Barnes & daughter-in-law Monique Lindsay of Bridgeport; daughter, Sha-Meen Johnson of Bridgeport; daughter, Ashley Johnson of Bridgeport; daughter, Brianna Norman of Bridgeport; son, Keyon Norman & daughter-in-law Jasmine Norman of Stamford; daughter, Elaine King of Fruitland Park, FL.; sister, Minnie Wilson & brother-in-law Richard Wilson; sister, Carolyn Johnson; sister, Diane Johnson Heyward & brother-in-law Gussie Heyward; brother, Ronald Johnson; brother, Herbert L. Johnson; sister, Barbara A. Wright; sister, Beverly Edwards; Gladys Scruggs & brother-in-law Joseph; sister, Martha Eady & brother-in-law James; brother, Earl Housey & sister-in-law Donna Housey; sister, Elizabeth Evans; brother-in-law Warren Norman & wife, Esther; sister-in-law Kimberly Norman; two aunts; Carolyn Jessie Grant and Dora Wright; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
