Julio (Josian) Iglesias, 67, of New Bedford, MA went to heaven peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Julio was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on June 11, 1958 to Martina Garcia Retamar and Raymond Iglesias.
Julio moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut where he became a longtime resident. He attended school, met the love of his life and worked hard at Park City Works to help support his family before retiring after many years of service. Julio was passionate in building model cars, and planes. He relished in going to antique car shows. He enjoyed love songs from Motown to Journey and Foreigner. His favorite songs were “Brown Eyed Girl” and “I wanna know what love is”. Julio enjoyed watching classic tv shows like “Sanford & Son” and “Three’s Company”. He genuinely was an old soul who loved the simplicity in life like his morning ham & cheese sandwich with a cup of coffee. Puerto Rican food was his favorite. Julio was a pair Levi jeans, a white tank top and Milwaukee Blue beer kind of guy, who embodied love and laughter to those who knew him. Julio was known for his warmth, humor, and unmistakable personality. He was always laughing about something and had a way of lifting spirits wherever he went. Julio was a loving father to his son and daughters, a wonderful grandfather to his 10 grandchildren. He was amazing son, brother and uncle to all. He was so proud to see the accomplishments of his children and never failed to say I love you.
Julio was preceded in death by his father Raymond Iglesias, sister Mariana Iglesias, brother Carlos Iglesias, brother in law Rafael Alvarado and great mother in law Herminia Lugo.
Julio is survived by his mother Martina Garcia Retamar, his children Javish Iglesias (S: Maria Iglesias, Lydia Ayala (S: Eric Ayala), Mariana Escobar, Martina Searles (S:Gerald Searles) and Kristie Iglesias. Julio leaves behind to cherish his memory: his brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Calling hours to honor and remember Julio will be held at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave, Bridgeport, CT on Friday, September 26 from 7-9p.m. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
