Juan B. Santiago

May 17, 1950 — April 19, 2025

Juan Bautista Santiago, known as "Kiddo", a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 74 in Stratford, Connecticut.


Born in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, to the late Damaso Santiago and Confesora Hernández Santiago, Juan was one of seven siblings: Ricardo Santiago, Vicente Santiago, Julio Santiago, Santia Santiago, Manuela Perez and Monserratte Santiago. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Ricardo and Julio, and his sister Santia. From a young age, Juan carried a warm and joyful spirit that would go on to touch the lives of everyone around him.


Juan married his childhood friend and the love of his life, Consuelo Martínez Santiago. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter and raised four children: Maria Ragbir (Ryan), Denise Roman (Vincent), Jonathan Quiles, and Joshua Quiles. He was a devoted and proud grandfather to Erick J. Teixeira, Joshua J. Quiles Jr., Vincent S. Roman Jr., and Alex C. Ragbir, and cherished his great-granddaughter, Hazel J. Teixeira, who brought him immense joy. Among several surviving cousins, nephews, and nieces, including Alina Merced who was like a daughter to him and held an uniquely close place in his heart.


An avid Mets fan, Juan found great comfort and excitement in the game of baseball. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and Music. Juan had a natural rhythm and loved to dance—especially with Consuelo, his forever dance partner.Juan had a kind soul, often stepping into the role of a father figure for many. He lived his life with joy and generosity, always ready with a laugh, a kind word, or a reassuring smile. Even in difficult times, he reminded those around him that "everything would be okay," and his calm, steady presence was a source of comfort to many.


Juan worked for 42 years as a machinist at Heim Bearing in Fairfield, CT, before retiring, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.


Juan will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his unwavering love for his family, and the way he made others feel seen, supported, and loved. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the music, love, and light he leaves behind.


He is predeceased by his favorite Tia Clotilde Garcia, whose presence and guidance had a profound impact on his life.
