Joseph Winston Williams

Joseph Winston Williams, age 73, of Bridgeport, Connecticut the spouse of Francena Clark, entered eternal rest on July 7th 2020 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Joseph Winston was welcomed into this world by his loving parents Joe & Cynthia Isabell Williams on April 20th 1947 in Shelby, North Carolina. He was raised in a Baptist home. By age of 5 his family relocated to Norwalk then settled in Bridgeport, CT. Joseph graduated from Harding High School in 1966 shortly after he enlisted in the Army. Joseph was a proud Vietnam War Veteran. At age 27 through a mutual friend Joseph met his love Francena Clark. Their bond of forty-nine years was fruitful, together they had three children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Joseph enjoyed traveling and taking long distance road trips. Joseph was a great provider, he worked hard as a machinist for many years at Avco, he also was a driver for the American Red Cross and retired from the Greater Bridgeport Mental Health as a counselor. Joseph was very social, he had an ease of talking to people from different walks of life and made many friends along the way. At his leisure he enjoyed family gatherings, with delicious southern homemade cooking, sausage, sweet potato pie, banana pudding, to name a few of his favorites. He also liked playing cards, pool, and watched a good game of football especially if the Dallas Cowboy were on. Joseph was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. He showered his family with endless love and laughter with his great sense of humor, family was everything. Joseph Winston Williams is predeceased by both of his parents and his sister Dinah Snell of West Haven. Joseph is survived by: wife, Francena Williams; daughter, Dana Williams; son, Derrick Williams; daughter, Dwan Williams all of Bridgeport. Joseph is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. Joseph Winston Williams will be lovingly remembered by his family and all of those who were lucky to get to know him. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 14th 2020 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM followed by A Home Going Service from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06604.
