Jose M. Rivera Jr.

Jose Manuel Rivera Jr., affectionately known as “Chino,” passed away on June 12, 2026, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at the age of 61. He resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Born on October 15, 1964, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Jose was the beloved son of Jose Manuel Rivera Sr. (predeceased) and Norberta Rivera, both originally from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He was raised in Norwalk before relocating to Bridgeport in 1985, where he built his life and family.

Jose was a devoted and loving father, remembered for his humor, easygoing nature, and his ability to light up any room. A true jokester at heart, he lived life freely and unapologetically, always marching to the beat of his own drum. His personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He had a deep love for boxing, freestyle music, the New York Yankees, sports cars, and classic kung fu and cowboy films. Jose was self-employed and took pride in working for himself throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving mother, Norberta Rivera; his significant other, Wanda Terron; his children Alana, Sharlene, Jasmine, Joseph, Antonio, and Sebastian; his siblings Soraida Rivera and Edward Rivera; and his grandchildren Lelani, Antonio, and J’sani. He was preceded in death by his father Jose Rivera, his brother Antonio Rivera, and his grandson Joseph Rivera.

A memorial service is scheduled on June 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Community Funeral Chapels located at 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06604 TEL: 203-334-9999.
