Jose W. Mestre Jose W. Mestre, age 79, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital. Jose was a master carpenter by trade and a proud Army veteran. In 2008 he was commended by the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut for his service as a combatant in the Korean conflict. He also served on the vestry of San Lucas & San Pablo Episcopal Church where he was a Licensed Lay Reader. Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico to the late Jose Mestre Caban & Ana Ramos, Jose was married for 59 years to his childhood sweetheart Delia Mestre. He is survived by brothers Oscar and Cutberto Mestre. He is also survived by sons; The Rev. Jose W. Mestre Jr., Daniel Mestre, Eddie Mestre and Nick Otero, his daughter in law, Nancy Lopez and his grandchildren Daniel, Steven, Brian, Samuel and Marcos and a great grandson Diego. Pre-deceased by brother Luis and a son Samuel Mestre. Jose was a traditional man who had a great sense of humor and enjoyed helping others and always supporting the "underdog". He will be missed by many. A prayer service will be held Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 at 8:00 AM in Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave., BPT. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 AM at San Lucas & San Pablo Church, 594 Kossuth St., BPT. Interment in The State Veterans' Cemetery Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. Friends may greet the family, Monday, September 28th, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Community Funeral Chapels. Arrangements are entrusted to Mrs. Brenda Ortiz, FD.
