Jose Alves age 91, of Bridgeport, entered into peaceful rest on Monday, August 3, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Jose was a devoted husband and provider to his loving wife of sixty-two years Ondina. Jose migrated from Portugal in 1967, he worked hard and raised his seven children in Bridgeport. Jose enjoyed gardening, loved his peach tree and didn't allow the children to walk on the grass. He also made and savored his own wine. He was proud to influence his grandchildren with his customs and catholic beliefs. Jose was born on Sunday, March 23, 1924 in Pena Longa Ribeira de Pena, Portugal, beloved son of the late Augusto Alves & Angelina Alves. He was the youngest of the three siblings pre-deceased by brother, Ernesto Alves and sister, Rosa Villaverde. Jose survived by: two sons, John Alves, Ernesto Alves; five daughters, Rosa Alves, Maria Alves, Lucy & son-in-law Michael Tracy, Cesletina Alves, Anna Alves; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a host of extended family and friends that will cherish his memory.
