Jorge Luis 'Jorgie' Burgos

Jorge Luis Burgos, age 40 of Bridgeport, CT, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023 in Meriden, CT. Jorge was born on June 23, 1982 in the Bronx to his parents, Jorge Burgos and Aida Maria (Ayala) Caraballo. Affectionately known as "Jorgie", he was the middle of three children. His family moved to Puerto Rico when their children were very young, and they relocated to Bridgeport when Jorge was 11. Jorgie was the quintessential gentle giant. One could easily be thrown off by his large frame, but his demeanor was softspoken, sweet, and kind. His sister, Heidi, described him as a big, loving, sweet bear. No matter what, he loved to make his family laugh. Jorgie loved sports; when he was young, he would spend hours at the McGivney Center in Bridgeport playing basketball and baseball with his friends and his little brother, Harry. As an adult, he collected baseball cards, loved his Yankees, and loved his video games. Jorge will be dearly missed. Jorge is predeceased by maternal grandparents Pablo Ayala and Petra Irizarry; paternal grandfather Bienvenido Burgos and his cousin Jonathan Burgos. He is survived by: his parents Jorge Burgos and Aida Maria (Ayala) Caraballo; his siblings Heidi Kennedy and Harry Burgos; niece Briana and nephews CJ and Nolan; and his stepfather Jose Caraballo.
