Johnny Victor Johnson, age 78, of Bridgeport, departed this life on August 15, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven, CT. He attended public schools in the Newtonville Community and Moulton, Texas. In 1956 Johnny joined the United States Marines. He had numerous assignments stateside, in Japan, Okinawa, and four tours in Vietnam. He served in a span of 21 years, honorably retiring in 1977 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the US Military Services, he worked at the Jewish Community Center for numerous years before medical retirement. He attended New Hope Baptist under the leadership of Pastor David Miller. He served faithfully as a deacon. Brother J.V. Johnson was the fifth child born to Stell and Bennie Lee Johnson on May 27, 1937 in Gonzales County, Texas. He is predeceased by his parents, two sisters, and his wife Annie Pollock Johnson. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, one son, David (Grace) Johnson of Tucson AZ; five daughters, Mary Ann (Allen) Bieber of Tucson AZ, Janet (Thomas) Nickens of Victorville, CA, Monnet (Henri) Gammeter of FL, Amelia (Davidree) Reese of Bridgeport, CT and Vicky Johnson of Bridgeport, CT; three sisters, Rosie L. Pullin of San Antonio, TX, Idella Brooks of Cuero, TX and Annie Jane Johnson of Cuero, TX. He leaves thirteen grandchildren: Mayo Daniel Franks, Matthew David Franks, DeAndre Nickens, Devin Johnson, Kaylee Johnson, Bethanie Johnson, Emani Pagan, Amaya Pagan, Alana Pagan, Ginia Reese, Karon Prendagrast, Ashley Sotomayor, and Christopher Sotomayor. He also leaves eight great-grandchildren: Jenica Danielle Franks, Isiah Matthew Franks, Andrew Joseph Franks, Cameron Carter, Devon Carter, Amari Watkins, August Watkins, Autumn Watkins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
