Jermaine Andre Scales

With profound sadness, yet with faith in God's promises, we announce the passing of Jermaine Andre Scales, age 54, of Hartford, Connecticut, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2026.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jermaine was the beloved son of Vivian McClain, originally of North Carolina, and the late Jerry Littles of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised with strong values of faith, perseverance, and hard work that remained the foundation of his life.

Jermaine was a devoted father to his daughter, Jasmine Scales, and his son, Tyler Scales. His greatest joy came from being "Pop Pop" to his cherished granddaughter, Sonomah Harrison, who truly was the light of his world. There was nothing he loved more than seeing her smile.

A hardworking and determined man, Jermaine earned his Associate Degree and built a career through dedication and integrity. Throughout the years, he worked in several professions, including Stop & Shop and Camarato & Sons Trucking Company, among other positions. He earned the respect of his coworkers through his dependable work ethic, honesty, and willingness to help others.

To know Jermaine was to love him. He had a personality that filled every room he entered. He was outgoing, talkative, loud in the best way, and blessed with a contagious sense of humor. If you sat down for a conversation with him, you had better bring breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack—because Jermaine could talk for hours. His stories, laughter, and larger-than-life personality left lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jermaine loved sports and was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. He also loved movies and could often be heard enthusiastically quoting his favorite lines from Lethal Weapon, including, "Psycho Nut Cop!" and "Don't tell them your name, Alfred!" His playful spirit and endless jokes could brighten even the darkest day.

Above all else, Jermaine was a man of God whose faith never wavered. He never allowed the opinions of others to define him. What mattered most to him was living according to his faith, treating others with respect, and standing firm in his beliefs. He taught his children to work hard, never give up, and trust God through every season of life.

Jermaine loved his family deeply and never missed an opportunity to remind the women in his life how beautiful they were. He was especially affectionate toward his granddaughter Sonomah who was the light of his life.

Jermaine possessed a remarkable intelligence, though those closest to him often laughed that he was "the smartest dumb person you'd ever meet"—a phrase he would have laughed hardest at himself. His humility, humor, and ability to laugh at himself made him even more lovable.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Littles; his grandfather, Howard Scales; his grandmother, Virginia Scales; his aunt, Sandra Scales; and his uncle, Howard Scales Jr.

Jermaine leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Vivian McClain; his devoted stepfather, Charles McClain; his daughter, Jasmine Scales; his son, Tyler Scales; his treasured granddaughter, Sonomah Harrison; his brothers, Eric Scales and La'rance Morton; his sister, Shamora Scales; along with a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by his presence.

Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing the memories of his laughter, unwavering faith, generous heart, and unconditional love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.

His life was a testament to faith, family, perseverance, and joy. He leaves behind not only cherished memories but a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering trust in God that will never be forgotten.
