It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Javier Gonzalo Puma Astudillo, lovingly known as Cirilo, who passed away peacefully at his residence in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on October 13, 2025, at the age of 27.

Javier was born in Cuenca, Ecuador, to his beloved parents Maria Rosario Astudillo and Luis Hipolito Puma Puma. He is survived by his four loving siblings — Rosa, Blanca, Gabriel, and Paulina — along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Javier was known for his honesty, humility, and kind spirit. He was a very happy and friendly person who always greeted others with warmth and positivity. A hardworking young man, he began working as a carpenter at the age of 15, dedicating himself fully to his craft. Seeking a better life and opportunities to support his family, Javier later moved to the United States, where he continued to work diligently and make a difference in the lives of those around him. In his free time, Javier enjoyed playing Ecuavoley futbol. It was his favorite sport and a joyful connection to his Ecuadorian roots.

Javier’s life was tragically cut short, and he left this world before seeing all of his dreams and goals fulfilled. Though his time with us was brief, his happiness, hard work, and love for others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.Funeral services have been entrusted to Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut, and will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will take place in Ecuador.

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Javier Gonzalo Puma Astudillo, cariñosamente conocido como Cirilo, quien falleció en paz en su residencia en Bridgeport, Connecticut, el 13 de octubre de 2025, a la edad de 27 años. 

Javier nació en Cuenca, Ecuador, hijo de sus amados padres María Rosario Astudillo y Luis Hipólito Puma Puma. Le sobreviven sus cuatro queridos hermanos: Rosa, Blanca, Gabriel y Paulina, así como numerosos familiares y amigos que siempre atesorarán su memoria. 

Javier se distinguía por su honestidad, humildad y bondad. Era una persona muy alegre y amigable que siempre saludaba a los demás con calidez y optimismo. Joven trabajador, comenzó a trabajar como carpintero a los 15 años, dedicándose plenamente a su oficio. En busca de una vida mejor y oportunidades para mantener a su familia, Javier se mudó posteriormente a los Estados Unidos, donde continuó trabajando con diligencia y dejando huella en la vida de quienes lo rodeaban. En su tiempo libre, Javier disfrutaba jugando al Ecuavoley Fútbol. Era su deporte favorito y una hermosa conexión con sus raíces ecuatorianas. 

La vida de Javier se truncó trágicamente, y dejó este mundo antes de ver cumplidos todos sus sueños y metas. Aunque su tiempo con nosotros fue breve, su alegría, su dedicación y su amor por los demás perdurarán en el corazón de todos los que lo conocieron. Los servicios funerarios están a cargo de Community Funeral Chapels, ubicada en 798 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut, y se llevarán a cabo el miércoles 29 de octubre de 2025, de 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm. El entierro tendrá lugar en Ecuador.
