James “Jimmy” Joel, age 62, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in the city where his life began. Born on June 29, 1963, in Bridgeport to the late Camillus Joel and Ruth Joel, Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the community he loved.
Jimmy was a gentle soul whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him. He never worked outside the home, married, or had children, but his life was rich in the ways that matter most — in love, faith, and connection. He had a giving heart and a joyful spirit that made him a blessing to be around.
A man of deep faith, Jimmy found comfort and strength in reading his Bible. He loved listening to music, which often filled his days with peace and happiness. He also had a well-known sweet tooth and took simple delight in enjoying his favorite treats. It was these small pleasures, shared smiles, and heartfelt conversations that defined his beautiful life.
Jimmy was predeceased by his beloved parents, Camillus and Ruth Joel, and his brother, Joell Joel. He leaves behind his devoted sister and caregiver, Selivia Avery Fowler, with whom he shared a very special and unbreakable bond. Their relationship was one of deep love, care, and unwavering support. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory and the love he gave so freely.
Jimmy’s life reminds us that greatness is not measured by worldly accomplishments, but by the love we give and the lives we touch. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, his faithful heart, and the joy he brought to his family. His presence was a gift, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
