Pito

February 8, 1966 — September 16, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ismael “Pito” Ruiz Méndez, Jr., age 58, who departed this life on September 16, 2024, in Bridgeport, CT. Born on February 8, 1966, in Brooklyn, NY, Pito was raised in the beautiful mountains of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, and later relocated to Bridgeport in 1995.

Pito was a devoted son to his beloved mother, Fanny, and a cherished brother to his four sisters: Maria Baez, Carmen (Milly) Ruiz, Nancy Ruiz, and Elizabeth (Lisa) Ruiz. He was a loving father to his two children, Anier C. Ruiz and Diaris C. Ruiz, who reside in Puerto Rico, and a wonderful grandfather whose warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed.

A man of deep faith, Pito studied Theology at Pentecostal University Mizpa in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. His faith shaped his life and provided strength to those around him. An avid cook, Pito delighted in preparing lavish meals, creating a sense of community and love around the dining table.

As a skilled woodworker and carpenter, he took great pride in his craft, pouring care and precision into every project. His hands not only built furniture but also built lasting memories for family and friends.

Pito’s legacy of love, warmth, and dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his children, Anier and Diaris, who carry forward his spirit.
