Hilario Rodriguez

Hilario Rodriguez Jr., affectionately known as “Juky,” passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born on May 26, 1946, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of the late Hilario Rodriguez and Teresa Ruiz. He was 80 years old.Hilario was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City, where his early years helped shape the warm, spirited, and devoted man he would become. 

After graduating from high school, he relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he built a life centered around family, faith, friendship, and love.Those who knew Hilario will remember him as a faithful man of deep conviction whose faith was an important part of his everyday life. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to offer a blessing, a kind word, or a helping hand. 

His sense of humor was equally memorable. Hilario was a true jokester who knew how to make people smile and bring laughter into a room. His playful nature was especially evident when he enjoyed card games with his family. He took great pleasure in challenging his granddaughter to a spirited game of UNO, creating moments that became cherished memories.Above all, Hilario was a devoted family man. He was a loving and exemplary father whose children could always count on his guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. 

He was also an outstanding grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and took pride in watching them grow. His presence brought a sense of comfort and familiarity to his family, and the lessons he shared through both his words and his example will remain with them for generations to come.Hilario is survived by his beloved spouse, Maria Oneida Rodriguez, and his three daughters, Annette Rodriguez Merturi, Liz Ivette Ramirez Moss, and Michelle Martinez. 

He is also survived by his sister, Juana Rodriguez, and leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Ruben Anthony, Brandon Tyler, Alicia Grace, Gabriel Alexander, and extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.He was preceded in death by his late wife, Gladys, and by his siblings Ramona, Eva, Agripina, Manuel, and Candida.Hilario’s life was defined not by what he possessed, but by what he gave to others. He gave his love freely, shared his faith generously, welcomed laughter into ordinary moments, and made the people around him feel remembered and cared for. His blessings, jokes, stories, and loving presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to live within the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
