Helen Leka

Helen Leka, age 92 of Bridgeport, Connecticut entered peaceful eternal rest Sunday, November 28th 2021 at St. Vincent's Medical Center Bridgeport, CT. Helen was born on September 24th 1929 in Manhattan, New York the beloved daughter of the late Clara Stim & Louis A. Leka. Helen was the third child of five. She enjoyed listing to classical music and singing. Her family moved to Bridgeport when Helen was 12years old. She attended Bridgeport public schools and was a graduate of Central High School in 1947. Helen was raised in church and sang in the church choir, where she met Frank Minerly Brown Jr. At age 25 Helen and Frank were married, together they made beautiful music along with 3 loving children. Helen was a caring mother and provider, she worked in Afco, Bullard's and retired from Caldor's. She also was a strong voice in her community she served as head of the Reform Party of Connecticut. Besides her parents Helen was predeceased by: former spouse, Frank Minerly Brown Jr; siblings, Irving, Philip, Louis, Andrew and grandson, Andrew Brandon Brown. Helen is survived by: son, Frank Minerly Brown III of San Diego, CA; daughter, Laura J. Mahmood of Bridgeport, CT; son, Andrew Louis Brown of Bridgeport, CT; 5 grandchildren, Alexandria Tuttle of Kansas City, MO; Michael C. Athanasakis of Gettysburg, PA; Hena Jenkins of Meridianville AL; Marlana Elizabeth Brown of Berea, KY; Wally Mahmood of Toney, AL; 9 great grandchildren, Ariana, Hunter, Hoyt, Andiana, Michael, Max, Ricky, Sammy, Layla and a host of extended family and friends that will cherish her memory.
