George Nelson Jones Sr.

JONES: George Nelson Jones Sr., of Bridgeport, CT entered into peaceful rest on Thursday, March 7, 2013, in St. Vincent's Hospital. George was born in Brooksville, FL. to the late Willie E. and Queen Baxter Jones on July 29, 1931. George married his high school sweetheart Marie and had two children. He was a dedicated employee for the City of Bridgeport and retired after thirty plus years. George was an active member of the Usher board for New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. In his spare time George loved fishing and working in his garden as well as the community garden. George was a bar-b-que king on the grill. George leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Marie, a son, George N Jones Jr., a daughter, Tamala Jones, of Bridgeport, three sisters Willie E. Smith, Flora Mcghee and Minnie Bolden of FL., five sister-in-laws, a brother-in law, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and his special friends Teddy Livingston and James McDonald. George was predeceased by a son, a daughter, two sisters and a brother. A home going celebration, led by Pastor David Miller of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, will proceed from 9:00am to 10:30 am. Interment will follow to Park Cemetery 610 Lindley St. Bridgeport.
