Estrellita Jacinita 'Marcia' Delahaye

October 9, 1958 — February 8, 2018

Estrellita Jacinta "Marcia" Delahaye, 59, passed peacefully, with family members by her side on February 8, 2018 after a brief struggle with cancer. Estrellita was ushered into the world on Thursday, October 9, 1958 in Kingston, Jamaica. The only child of Uley Delahaye and Cisling Miller, she was appropriately named Estrellita, meaning little star in Spanish. Certainly, she was a bright star with an infectious smile, jovial demeanor and overall pleasant personality. Growing up in Kingston, she was a city girl and was very proud of her city dweller identity. Unfortunately, tragedy struck early in her life when she lost her mother at the tender age of twelve. She moved to Good Hope, Manchester to live with her dear aunt Mavis, where she spent her adolescent years. She bonded with her cousins Sharon and Donald, they became her siblings. She went on to graduate from Porus Secondary School. Marcia, as she was affectionately known, became the mother of four children and migrated to the United States at the age of thirty-one and settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Jewish Senior Services for twenty-six years and retired at the onset of her illness. She was a hard worker and gave the best care she could to her family. Occasionally she would return to Jamaica to visit friends and family. Her last visit to her homeland was in August 2016. Estrellita was very playful and always friendly. She loved laughter and despised sadness. During her illness she often instructed those who visited her not to cry. She appreciated a smile much more than a frown. It was her infectious passion for life and ability to find satisfaction in seemingly miniscule things that made her so magnetic. She was so full of life, she could have a blast just having ice cream. Anyone who really knew her, knew of her excellent culinary skills and she enjoyed preparing delightful dishes for family and friends. Seventeen years ago, Estrellita married the love of her life, Nalbert Roy Roach and Jamelle was born of their union. As a mother she was simply incredible. She filled her five children with love and joy. She loved each in a unique way and cherished them all. She was their fiercest defender - no individual was allowed to speak a negative word about any of them. She was a firm disciplinarian who wanted the best for all of her children and did whatever was necessary to ensure just that. She grew up in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was baptized in 1996 at the Norwalk Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 2002, she became a charter member of the Bridgeport Tabernacle of Seventh-day Adventists where she remained a faithful and active member until her passing. Estrellita found great joy in serving the Lord. She could often be found unapologetically blasting gospel music in her vehicle and crooning along to her favorite songs. During church services she would be one the first members standing, clapping and singing. She was endowed by God with the ministry of helping others, always willing to assist anyone with any task without uttering a word about their need or her assistance. In her final months, she often affirmed her faith in God. She believed He was at the helm of her life and she remained confident that His will was best for her life. Estrellita is survived by her husband, Nalbert; sons, Huygens, Ashon, Nicardo (Rene) and Jamelle; daughter, Nickeisha (Kenneth); brother, Arthur; and a host of family members, church family and friends.
