Erma Loretta Vining

Erma Loretta Gilkes Vining age 76, of West Haven, departed this life Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Erma was the widow of Oliver Henry (Hank) Vining and a loving mother to eight. Erma was born August 1, 1939 in Manhattan New York, to the late parents Aaron Gonzalez Jones and Etta Victoria Reed. Besides her parents and husband, Erma was predeceased by: sister, Jane, brother-in-law Ernest, and nephew, Ronnie Ack. Erma is survived by: six children, Denise Gilkes Lindsay of West Haven, CT., Victor "Tony" & daughter-in-law Maria Gilkes of Milford, CT., Bruce & daughter-in-law Luci Gilkes of Derby, CT., Gregory & daughter-in-law Vanessa Gilkes of Harleysville, PA., Sandra Gilkes Tyson of Milford, CT., Rodney & daughter-in-law Jennette Vining of Bridgeport, CT; two stepchildren, Hanky and Sandra Vining of Bridgeport, CT. Erma was also blessed with 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and family friends who dearly love her. A memorial service will be held in honor of Erma Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00am Gethsemane Church, Assemblies of God, 10 Jetland Street Bridgeport, CT. Interment will be held privately.
