Elvia De Alzate, age 102, of Bridgeport, the widow of Ramon Alzate, passed into heavenly rest on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her home with her loving family’s support in Bridgeport, CT.
Elvia was born in Risaralda Caldas, Colombia on May 15,1921 to the late Laura Valencia and Aurelio Benjumea. Elvia was raised in a large household, she embraced and cared for her family, friends and for those in need. She was married to Ramon Alzate for over 50 years, together they had 9 loving children. At age 76 Elvia relocated to Connecticut with her daughter Nelida Alzate and her grandson Edwin Escobar. She was funny, caring, resilient and had a good heart. Family gatherings always put a smile on her face.
Besides her parents and spouse, Elvia was predeceased by her two daughters Ofelia Alzate, Lucelly Alzate; And her son, Alvaro Alzate.
Elvia was survived by: 4 sons, Jose Alzate, Hector Alzate, Mario Alzate, Faber Alzate; 2 daughters, Nelida Alzate, Rubia Alzate; grandson Edwin Escobar; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her and cherish her memory forever.
A Memorial Mass to Celebrate Elvia’s Life will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Parrish at 25 Cliff St. Norwalk, CT 06850.
