Ella Mae Campbell

Ella Mae Campbell Knight, was born to the late James Thomas Miles and Leila Brown in Blenheim, South Carolina on December 31st, 1948. She was the second child of six siblings. Ella was educated in the South Carolina school system. In 1965 she married her childhood sweetheart, Earl Campbell. From that union came three children. In 1967, Ella and her family relocated to Brooklyn, NY. There she cared for her children and spent her time being a wonderful housewife. In 1975, Ella and her family relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut. In 1984, Ella Found love again. The couple dated for 32 years. In 2016 Ella married the love of her life, Dixon Knight. From that union, came one son. Ella worked on various jobs. In 1977 she obtained her license to be a Home Health Aide. She worked in nursing homes, and in people's homes taking care of the sick and disabled. Ella loved her work. She would use her own car and gas to take her patients shopping and other places they needed to go. In 2011, Ella joined the American Legion Auxiliary, Benjamin Moore, Unit 1946. A Veterans' organization that served disabled veterans and their families both home and abroad as well as in the community. For nine years, she served as vice president and was a devoted member. To know Ella was to love her. Ella spent most of her adult life helping others. She was a caring person. Her family was her life. She enjoyed having her children and her grandchildren visit her. Nothing was more important to her than her Grands. She was raising one of her grandchildren to make sure she was properly cared for. Ella also liked going out to the clubs dancing. When she was out, she was a lot of fun. She was known by her favorite song "This I Swear" by her favorite artist: Tyrone Davis. Ella is gone to join her mother, father, brother, and sister in the holy land. She leaves to cherish her memories her spouse Dixon Knight; four sons, Danny Campbell, of Bennettsville SC, Timmy Campbell Sr, Gerome Campbell, and James Campbell Sr. of Bridgeport, CT; one sister Geraldine Hall (Melvin) of Trenton N J; two brothers Robert Miles (Sandra) and Leverne Miles (Teresa), of Bennettsville SC; a special niece Monique Campbell; special cousin Lucile Walker; two special friends Latoyra Blakes & Nancy Campbell; 16 grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
