Edwin Valentin, affectionately known as “Cubin” and 65, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2026, at 12:56 p.m. at Connecticut Hospice Center in Branford, Connecticut.
Edwin was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, to the late Ramón Valentin and Isidra Feneque Bonilla. He was one of five beloved siblings: Luz E. Valentin “Lucy,” Clisanta Valentin “Tata,” José Valentin “Indio,” and Margarita Valentin “Ita.” His family was a source of love, connection, and cherished memories throughout his life.
Those who knew Edwin will remember him for his bright, playful personality and wonderful sense of humor. He was always making jokes, bringing laughter into the room, and finding a way to make the best out of even the most difficult situations. He had a gift for lifting people's spirits and reminding those around him that there was always a reason to keep going.
Edwin was also a man who believed in helping others. He was generous with what he had and was often willing to give his last to someone in need. His kindness was not limited to words—he showed his love through his actions, guidance, and willingness to be there when others needed him.
To his nephews, Edwin was much more than an uncle. He was a father figure, a mentor, a protector, and a true friend. He taught them how to find their way through life, how to be independent, how to navigate the city, The lessons he gave them went far beyond knowing how to get from one place to another. He taught them to be leaders, not followers, to make good choices, to remain strong and focused, and to never give up when life became difficult. Edwin was a faithful member of the AA and NA meetings of Bridgeport CT encouraging others to progress and a member of the St Luke Church and Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Bridgeport CT.
Edwin encouraged those he loved to stay clean and sober, strong and determined, and to believe that they could overcome whatever challenges life placed before them. His own life was a testament to perseverance. He faced difficult times with courage and continued moving forward, always finding a way to make the best of what life gave him.
His faith was an important part of who he was. Edwin often reminded those around him of his favorite saying: “Let go and let God.” When circumstances were beyond his control, he believed in surrendering them to God and trusting in His plan. A Scripture that reflected his faith and strength was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” These words were more than a verse to Edwin—they were a source of strength and a reminder to keep believing, even during life's hardest moments.
Edwin leaves behind a legacy of laughter, faith, strength, generosity, and love. The lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His nephews will forever carry the wisdom he shared, the guidance he provided, and the love he gave so freely.
Though his absence leaves a profound emptiness, Edwin's family can find comfort knowing that his life made a difference. He was the uncle who stepped up when he was needed, the man who encouraged others to be strong, and the person who could make someone laugh even when life felt heavy.
We are grateful for every lesson, every laugh, every act of kindness, and every moment we were blessed to share with him.
Rest peacefully, Cubin, your memory will live on in us forever. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
