It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Thomas Gonzalez, also known as Ed, who departed from this life on January 11, 2025, at the age of 34, in Derby, CT. Edwin was born on June 5, 1990, in Bridgeport, CT, to Evelyn Gonzalez, originally from Anasco, Puerto Rico.
Edwin was a beloved son, brother, and friend. He was raised in Bridgeport, CT, and in his teenage years, relocated to Puerto Rico with his mother for a time. He later returned to live with his brother Thomas (Pete), where he made lasting memories with his family and friends.
Edwin had an infectious personality; he was the life of the party and had a unique ability to make everyone around him laugh with his jokes and storytelling. He was generous, always willing to help others, and had a heart full of love for his family and friends.
Edwin’s passions included music, working on cars, and cherishing moments spent with loved ones. His greatest achievement was making his brother Thomas proud. He worked at Starr Distributors, where he was well-respected by his colleagues.
Although Edwin had no children of his own, he held a special place in his heart for his nephews and nieces—Booboo, Gregory, and Vanaya—and loved them as his own. He especially enjoyed helping raise them, and they were the light of his life.
Edwin is survived by his mother, Evelyn Gonzalez; his brothers, Thomas Caballero and Maximo Benitez; his sister-in-law, Vanessa Rivera; His partner Amanda and his cherished nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his father.
Edwin will be missed immensely and loved for an eternity.
