Deitrich Williamson, affectionately known as Mama Dee, age 70, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at her home on November 25, 2024. She was born on August 18, 1954, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Mildred Marie Watson and Andrew Williamson.
Deitrich's life journey took her across the East Coast. At just two years old, her family moved to Manhattan, New York, where she spent her early childhood. At 11, she moved to New Jersey, where she stayed until the age of 18. After leaving home, Deitrich lived in New York for 12 years before moving to Massachusetts at 32. Then moving and relocated to Florida at 57 where she spent much of her life, eventually settling in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at the age of 68.
Deitrich was a loving and nurturing soul, a true mother to all she encountered. Her career as a teacher assistant at United Cerebral Palsy and her beloved role as a kindergarten grandma highlighted her deep care for children. She poured her heart into supporting and guiding young lives, spreading love and warmth everywhere she went. Deitrich was also a proud and devoted usher at her church, a role she cherished deeply.
She was a devoted mother to her two children, Yvette Williamson and Dimitri S. Lyles Sr. Deitrich is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Darren Williamson. She is survived by her grandchildren Dimitri Jr., Dominique, Isabella, Divine Mason, and Atiana Parker, as well as her great-grandchildren Zakyaa, Justin, Tyree, Tymere, and Jeremiah, and a soon-to-arrive great grandchild and great-great-grandson.
Deitrich's legacy is one of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community. Her unwavering kindness and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
