Clifford Uriah Stone, affectionately known as Cliffy and Cliff, age 74, of Bridgeport,
Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved
ones.
Born on February 25, 1951, in Bath Mountain, Westmoreland, Jamaica, Cliffy was the
second youngest of ten children of the late Leonard and Vivian Stone. He was
predeceased by his parents and siblings Linnette, Alfred, Norrene, and Delsie.
Cliffy pursued his studies at the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI),
where he trained in his skilled trade and went on to become both an educator and a
licensed electrician. In 2000, he moved from Jamaica to the United States, determined
to build a life centered on hard work, opportunity, and resilience.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—savoring home-cooked meals, keeping up with
world news, watching the game of cricket, and making frequent trips to Home Depot for
his many projects. Cliffy’s warmth, humor, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on
everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his five children: Sule, Sudi, Shani, Saran, and Salim; and his
stepdaughter, Tiffany. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Shadea, Olivia,
Jeremiah, Joel, Ava, and Sage. Cliffy also leaves behind his siblings Olga, Earl, Gloria,
Lyden, and Libert; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones.
He shared many years of marriage with Lorna Marsh-Stone, with whom he remained a
close and supportive friend throughout his life. In his later years, Cliffy cherished the
companionship of Sophie Byfield.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 5, 2025, at Faith and Hope Apostolic Ministries Int'l., 1475 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Commencement will begin at 11:30 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the remarkable life he lived.
Cliffy’s legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on forever in the hearts of his
family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
