Clemente Castillo Reyes

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clemente Castillo Reyes, who left us on January 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Clemente was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico, and later migrated to Brooklyn, New York, where he married and lived in Manhattan before relocating to Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1960. He worked for The Universal Manufacturing Company before moving back to Brooklyn, where he served as a Building Superintendent.

Clemente was a man who never forgot his roots. His Puerto Rican heritage was something he held dear, and he proudly kept the culture alive by often singing Campo and Salsa music. His joyful spirit shone through his music and in his big smile, which he shared with everyone he met.

A loving father, grandfather, and a beautiful soul, Clemente was always ready to offer help to anyone in need. His radiant eyes lit up any room, and he found peace in the simple joys of life, like spending time at the beach with his family, friends, and his beloved dog. Though Clemente has left us, his memory will forever live on in our hearts.

Clemente is survived by his children: Myrna Vivo (and her husband George Vivo), grandchildren Lina Vivo and George Vivo Jr.; his sons, Clemente Castillo Jr. (and his grandson Clemente Castillo III), great-granddaughter Leiliana Castillo, and son Adrian Castillo (and his girlfriend Eva Malmon, along with grandson Adrian Castillo Jr.). He is also survived by his sisters, Modesta Castillo, Julia Castillo, Carmen Castillo, Clara Castillo, and Sonia Santiago, and brothers Tony Castillo, Charlie Castillo, and Jibo Castillo.

Clemente was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Castillo and Francisca Reyes, as well as two brothers, Chu Castillo and Monche Castillo, and a sister, Juanita Castillo.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604. Immediate family visitation will take place from 4-5 PM, followed by visitation for friends from 5-8 PM. On Monday, January 27, 2025, the final viewing will be held from 9-10 AM, followed by a Catholic Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral, 399 Washington Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604. Immediately following, a final burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06610.

Clemente’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
