Christine Murray “Chris” Duhancik, 72, of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2025.

Christine was born on July 3, 1953, in Ayr, Scotland, United Kingdom, to William Wright (born 1922, Glasgow, Scotland) and Christine Wright (born 1922, Westerton, New Kilpatrick, UK). She was raised in Ayr, Scotland, and relocated to the United States at age seven, later becoming a proud U.S. citizen.

Christine was the kindest person on earth—accepting of all people, strong-willed, energetic, and endlessly devoted to her family and her roots. She loved to laugh and made it her mission to make others happy, often telling jokes—even if she told them wrong most of the time. She was proud of where she came from and prouder still of the family she built.

She served briefly in the United States Air Force and later became a trailblazer in her profession. Christine was a proud female lineman/splicer for SNET (now AT&T), where she worked from 1987 until her retirement in 2008, breaking barriers in a male-dominated field.

Christine was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield, Class of 1971.

She found great joy in gardening, camping, and birdwatching—especially from her back window. Living on the river at Indian Well in Shelton brought her immense happiness, and she cherished time spent on her boat. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their activities, and being part of their lives. Her beloved dog, Duke, was never far from her side.

Christine was married to Gerald J. Duhancik in 1972. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald, her parents William and Christine Wright, and her sister Linda Wright (born 1948, Glasgow, Scotland).

She is survived by her loving children; Gerald J. Duhancik and his wife Jill Duhancik, Kirsty A. Kempf and her husband Ronald Kempf; Her cherished grandchildren, James Duhancik, Justin Duhancik, Cali Kempf, and Caylum Kempf; her daughter-in-law and son-in-law; and her beloved dog, Duke. Christine is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Bill Wright and his wife Carrie, and their children Paige, Parker, and Pilot; Christine Fuller; Chuck Fuller; Joey Duhancik and his wife Adrienne, and their son Ross; Jillian Duhancik and her son Nico. She is also survived by her cousins Jean Kilpatrick and the Kilpatrick Clan; her sisters-in-law Olivine Fuller, Doreen Duhancik, and Marie Duhancik; her lifelong best friend Barbra Luciano; and her longtime friend Marie LeClear.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 2301 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615.

Christine will be remembered for her boundless kindness, her laughter, her strength, and the love she gave so freely to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
