Carmen Awilda Rodriguez

Carmen Awilda Rodriguez, affectionately known as Mita, age 66, of Derby formally of Bridgeport, beloved spouse of Luis Figueroa Sr., entered into peaceful rest Monday, February 18, 2019 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Carmen was born July 30th 1952 in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico; daughter of the late Juan Luis Rodriguez & Hipolita Reillo. Carmen was one of eighteen kids, growing up in a large family, often times she took care of others before herself. She was full of life, energy and always put her family first. She enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed. Carmen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Luis Figueroa Sr; son, Luis Daniel & daughter-in-law Hanh Figueroa of West Haven; two daughters, Cynthia Fontanez of Bridgeport, Christine Figueroa & son-in law Jamie Rosino of Derby; stepson, Luis M. Figueroa Jr. of New Jersey; two stepdaughters, Lucy A. Figueroa of Georgia, Marie Figueroa of Bridgeport; twenty-three grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends that will cherish her memory.
