Carmen Ivette Ortiz Ortiz, affectionately known as “Chamy” of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at Bridgeport Hospital. She was 61 years old.
Carmen was born on September 20, 1964, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, to the late Carmen Nemesia Ortiz and Pedro Antonio Ortiz. She was raised in Puerto Rico, where she spent most of her life surrounded by family and loved ones. Over the years, Carmen traveled back and forth between Puerto Rico and Bridgeport to visit her family. Three years ago, she made Bridgeport her permanent home, where she spent her final years close to her loved ones.
Carmen was a very loving, polite, and caring woman who had a warm and friendly personality. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make jokes and be silly, often bringing laughter and joy to those around her. Carmen had a caring heart and spent time working in healthcare in Puerto Rico, where she devoted herself to caring for a patient.Carmen was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She leaves behind her three beloved children, Ivette, Ivelisse, and Angel, and her five cherished grandchildren, Kiaritza, John Carlos, Alaysha, Jose, and Milagritos. She is also survived by her brother, Pedro Ortiz.
Carmen was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Luis Ortiz.
Carmen’s memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, brother, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
