Carmen Gloria Montaez Algea

Carmen "Yeya" Gloria Montaez Algea, age 77, of Bridgeport, CT passed away on December 31, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with cancer. On June 1, 1944 Carmen was welcomed into the world as one of the thirteen children of her beloved parents Isabel Montaez and Francisca Martinez in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. She relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1979. Carmen's true spirit and joy for life showed in her smile and the twinkle in her eye. Carmen's faith in God was unbreakable. There was no quit in Carmen. She was full of energy, unstoppable, and unforgettable - a true force of nature. When anyone else would have broken, Carmen stayed strong. Her determination kept her pushing through anything that came her way. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart, and she would move heaven and earth for them. She was always willing to help and never turned her back on her loved ones. Carmen is predeceased by: husband Jose Ramon Algae; siblings Ana, Luis Alberto, Juan and Benigno. She is survived by: children Luis Alberto of Oklahoma, Luis Ramon, Ricardo, Carmen Milagros of Bridgeport and Ana Rosa of Hartford; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings Marina, Eneida, Jose, Erenia, Francisco, Edith, Carlos, Anibal and a large host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
